The UCA team wins the oral phase and takes third place overall in the MOOTmadrid 2023 international competition

The team from the Faculty of Law of the University of Cadiz has once again obtained an outstanding result in the XV edition of the international competition of Arbitration and Commercial Law MOOTmadrid 2023. Specifically, the UCA students have achieved third place overall, being the best team in the oral phase. They also won an honourable mention for the most complete in the general rounds; the same award went to student Luna Padillo, as the best speaker in the general rounds and for the defence to the claim. This year, more than 24 teams of nine nationalities took part in the competition. The 14 teams from Spain (San Pablo CEU, Complutense, Camilo José Cela, ICADE, Valencia, Alcalá, Carlos III de Madrid, Grado y Máster, Pompeu Fabra, La Rioja, IE, ESADE, Jaume I and Cádiz) were joined by those from Brazil (Sao Paulo), Guatemala (Francisco Marroquín and Istmo), Chile (U. de Chile), France (Versailles), Colombia (Nariño), Mexico (Nacional Autónoma), USA (Miami and Florida), Peru (Ciencias Aplicadas and Católica).

The most important thing, as the participants emphasise, is the learning achieved about the private law of supranational business and the arbitration procedure as a formula for resolving disputes in this area. In addition, this activity allows them to have permanent contact with other graduates who, now in their jobs in important international law firms, collaborate in the training and preparation of the teams.
