UCA appears for the first time in the Ranking of Shanghai and it is placed among the 400 best of the world in Science and Environmental Engineering

 

The University of Cadiz, after the irruption at the end of last year in the area of ​​Physical Activity and Sport, appears for the first time in the Ranking of Shangi by subjects, ranking among the 400 best universities in the world in Science and Environmental Engineering. This ranking gathers the scientific projection of universities from the five continents and, among other indicators, evaluates the number of publications indexed in InCities, the index of standardized citations of the same, the prizes to the teaching staff, the publications in Journals of high impact or the Publications in international co-authorship.

In this way, UCA enters the 2017 ranking, ranking among the 300-400 best universities in the world in Science in Environmental Engineering. A presence in the area of ​​subjects that last year already included the inclusion of the University of Cadiz in the classification of areas of special interest, where Sports Sciences of UCA appears among the 100-150 most outstanding positions in this area of knowledge.

Looking at the different indicators, UCA presents values ​​that place it around the world 350 or even in the range 200-300 in relation to the indicator of publications in international co-authorship. These data are a reflection of the scientific growth carried out by the University of Cadiz in recent years and which, in part, are linked to the development of the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea (CEI·Mar), which leads UCA and that in the end Of 2016, after obtaining the maximum qualification received the highest possible certification with the qualification of Global Campus of International Excellence.

The entry of the University of Cadiz in this ranking is motivated, especially, by the increase in the number of its scientific articles indexed in the WOS platform. This increase has contributed decisively to the inclusion of UCA in the Shanghai 2017 Ranking since it mainly incorporates universities with a significant activity in high impact publications.
